HTC re Vive: Use of OLED or LCD panel(s)?

Let's take educated guesses: Is it possible that the HTC/Valve HMD uses OLED panels? None of the htc phones does. Or is there a way to get low latency with LCD? Not that I know of. Strobing might solve persistence problems, but still adds the panels latency.
