Question regarding tanking and gear:

So, I'm poor and late to the party and there are a lot of DPS with 183-187 +12 gear. I plan on tanking with both warrior and lancer.

Assuming I have oculus gear, can I safely queue and tank for LP/ABNM/RENM?

I saw a warrior guide on the official forums stating that warrior tanks need nearly equivalent gear to DPS, but +12 is forever beyond my budget. Hypothetically, can a +9 patron warrior/lancer tank against overgeared DPS?
