How can I get more involved in VR?

I'm a 29 year old guy working in finance. I am a smart person with some entrepreneurial background, but zero background in coding.

VR really excites me, unlike my current career. I think it's going to change the world (doesn't everyone on here? :)), and it seems like it would be an exciting industry to work in.

Without getting too unrealistic and pipe-dreamish, what are some of the ways I can get more involved in this technology? Is eventually coding up my own demos completely out of the question for someone with limited free time and zero background in any of this stuff?

I know this post is super vague and probably does sound pretty harebrained. I'm a realistic person and of course realise that I'm not going to go from zero to John Carmack overnight, or ever. But putting myself in a position to perhaps segue into developing or being involved in VR in some way on a part-time basis in the future would be cool.

Thanks!
